8. Es probable que sus padres confíen en él y no le pidan que deje notas cada vez que sale. Ni siquiera puedo caminar sola por la ciudad. ¡Hola, madre! Tengo casi dieciocho.

10. Tiene un cabello hipócrita. Intentó ayudarme a arreglar mi cabello luego de que lo arruinó por completo con su bola de nieve, aunque su cabello siempre luce como si acabara de terminar un combate de lucha libre con un lanzador de nieve. Y el lanzador ganó.

My Senior Year of Awesome (Mi último año de lo impresionante) es un romance contemporáneo juvenil repleto de momentos encantadores y divertidos. Una de las cosas que en realidad me gustó del libro fue que pudo capturar mi atención de principio a fin. Es una novela escrita por la autora debutante Jennifer DiGiovanni y fue lanzado hace muy poco tiempo. Por cierto, agradezco haber tenido la posibilidad de leerlo antes de que se lanzara. Además, si bien la sinopsis es corta, estoy segura de que algunos incluso pensarán de que no te dice nada, pero la verdad es que aunque es pequeña, puede decirte un montón y no de una forma mala.

Esta vez todo comienza cuando Sadie, la protagonista, intenta comprender, más bien descubrir, porqué fue votada como una de las más posibles a casarse con un chico que ni siquiera le gusta, en absoluto, o eso es lo que cree.

Quiero morir. No, quiero vomitar. Quiero vomitar y luego morir. Andy, ¿el nerd más grande de todo el último año? ¿El chico que vistió la misma camiseta de Darth Vader cada día en octavo grado? ¿El chico que se desmayó en la graduación de la escuela media y fue pisoteado por el resto de nuestra clase?

Sin embargo, mientras intenta evitarlo y a toda esta cosa de las votaciones, Sadie y su mejor amiga rellenan un libro con el cual, según yo, puedes tener un montón de diversión, puesto que se debe llenar algunas veces con las cosas más extrañas de la vida, o solo con hechos completamente al azar acerca de alguien o algo.

—Entonces, ¿qué se te ocurrió para el nombre de tu futuro hijo? —preguntó ella. —Chase.Los ojos se Jana se ampliaron. —¿Chase? Eso es un verbo, no un nombre.—También es un nombre, significa búsqueda.—Está bien, entonces es Chase. —Jana escribe cuidadosamente mi primera elección en nombres de chicos en el libro.—¿Andy está de acuerdo con tu elección?

El último año es, quizás, el más importante de la secundaria, es cuando debes que tomar decisiones que pueden llegar a cambiar tu futuro, es la última oportunidad que tienes para interactuar con esos a los que nunca le has hablado, o simplemente puede ser la última posibilidad de que tengas un amor de secundaria.

Estas listas al azar llevan a Sadie y a su mejor amiga, Jana, a crear, hacer e intentar un montón de cosas nuevas antes de que su último año termine. Al mismo tiempo, Sadie tiene la oportunidad de trabajar con Dom, el chico por el cual ha tenido un enamoramiento en secreto por años. Pero ¿qué ocurre cuando te das cuenta que el chico con el cual has soñado no es lo que pensaste? Solo cosas divertidas, o al menos eso le sucede a ella.

Andy es un personaje que me encantó, es un chico inteligente, hermoso, y un desastre completamente atractivo. Siempre tenía esas ganas de querer saber más de él.

La historia de amor entre Andy y Sadie, el cómo se dan cuenta de su amor por el otro, los momentos graciosos y también los serios; todo esto y muchísimo más, hace de este libro uno que debes leer, no deberías, debes, está lleno de situaciones que pueden hacerte sonreír sin que lo notes. Y la escritura de Jennifer es una genial adición a esta combinación.

¿Te gusta cuando una buena historia te provoca diferentes sensaciones? Tienes que probar este libro. ¿Te gusta el romance juvenil? Prueba este. ¿Te gusta leer acerca de un chico desastrosamente atractivo? Andy, sí, te lo digo todo con solo decirte su nombre. Este libro es una forma genial y súper buena de hacer un debut como escritor, así que mis felicitaciones para Jennifer. Estoy esperando con ansías un segundo libro de ella.

My Senior Year of Awesome is a Young Adult Contemporary Romance with hilarious, and lovely moments. A book that can catch you from the begging to the end. It’s written by Jennifer DiGiovanni and it’s going to be released tomorrow! By the way, I’m thankful for had the chance to read it before it comes out. Also, as you can see, the synopsis/blurb is short but it can tell you a lot —not in a bad way.

Anyway, all this start with Sadie, the protagonist, trying to understand why she was voted as most likely to get marry with a boy she doesn’t even like, at all —or that’s what she thinks.

I want to die. No, I want to puke. I want to puke and then die. Andy, the biggest nerd in all of seniordom? The boy who wore the same Darth Vader T-shirt every day of eighth grade? The guy who passed out at middle school graduation and was trampled on by the rest of our class?

However, while she tries to avoid him and the entire superlative votes thing, Sadie and her best friend complete a book that —according to me— you can fill with the oddest things ever, or just with totally random facts about someone or something.

“So, what did you come up with for your future son’s name?” she asks.
“Chase.”
Jana’s eyes grow wide. “Chase? That’s a verb, not a name.”
“It’s also a noun, meaning pursuit.”
“Okay, Chase it is.” Jana carefully scribes my top boy’s name in the book. “Does Andy agree with your choice?”

Senior year is —maybe— the most important year in high school, is when you have to make a decision that can change your future, is the last chance you have to interact with those you've never talk before, or it just can be the last chance to have a high school love.

These random lists take Sadie and Jana to do, make and try a lot of new things before their senior year ends. Along with this, Sadie has the chance to work with Dom, the guy she’s secretly been crushing on for years. But what happens when you realized the boy you’ve been dreaming with is not what you thought? Nothing bad but funny moments, or at least that happens to her. Also, I loved Andy’s character, he’s smart, gorgeous, an a completely hot mess. During all my reading I was always wanting to read more of him.

Andy and Sadie’s love story, how they realized their love for the other, their hilarious moments, and the serious, too. All this and so much more, make this book one you must read —not should, must— it's full with a lot of moments that can make you smile without notice. And Jennifer's writing is a big plus to this combination.

Do you like when a good story makes you feel different sensations? You have to try this one. Do you like Young Adult romance? Let's try this. Do you like to read about a hot mess boy? Andy —yep, with just his name I tell you all. Anyway, this book is a really great way to make a debut novel, so my congratulations to Jennifer.

Jennifer lives in a small town near Philadelphia, PA with her husband and three children. In college, she double majored in English and business, and later went back to school for her MBA. She currently works as a freelance writer and owns a small business. She also spends time cheering at her kids’ soccer games, re-learning algebra to help with homework assignments, and cooking up healthy dinners that nobody eats. When she’s not doing any of those things, you can find her reading, working on home design projects, or running (though she's much better at walking). At night, when her house is finally quiet, she brings her YA characters to life. My Senior Year of Awesome is her first novel.
