Fecha de publicación (inglés): 22 de febrero, 2016
Editorial: Swoon Romance | Entangled Publishing, LLC
SINOPSIS
Entonces Madison comienza a preguntarse.

HOUSE HUNT by Jackie Keswick

Title: House Hunt
Author: Jackie Keswick
Series: The Power of Zero, #3
Publication Date: March 30, 2016
Genre: Adult, MM Romance, Romantic Suspense

Jack Horwood hates owing favors. But when a simple day out to treat Gareth to the best oysters in England leads to a discovery of drugs and counterfeit money—things that neither Jack nor Gareth have the jurisdiction to handle—he has to call in help. Help that doesn’t come cheap, and that forces him to do something he promised himself he’d never do again—walk away from Gareth and the family he’s starting to make for himself.

Three months undercover is a long time. After missing Gareth’s birthday, Jack is determined not to miss their first anniversary. But coming home and being home are two very different things. So when he is asked to assist with a corporate espionage investigation, Jack can’t say no, despite knowing it will impact his already straining relationship.

Except, of course, he’s walking into a trap….

EXCERPT

A deep, throaty rumble broke the quiet of the morning and Gareth frowned. It didn’t sound like Jack’s beloved Gixxer, and anyway, he had been told they were not riding to… wherever it was they were going. The sound neared and settled outside his house, and when Gareth opened the front door and walked to the end of the drive, he came face-to-face with Jack Horwood—in a way he’d never seen or imagined him before.

He was used to Jack in skintight jeans and with a screwdriver between his teeth, bent over desks, or crawling into spaces rodents would have found restrictive. He was used to Jack in leather, astride his bike, and Jack in sleeveless tops and jogging bottoms moving through kata with grace and precision. He was even used to Jack the tease, meshing leather, music, and suggestive moves until Gareth thought his skin would catch on fire. Jack appealed to him whatever incarnation he chose, and this time around he had surpassed himself.

Long, low-slung, and roofless, with sexy, graceful curves, the deep green two-seater sparkled in the early morning sunlight. Jack sat snugly ensconced in magnolia leather, a dark green fleece top and matching ball cap complementing the color of the car. Fingerless driving gloves of soft black leather and aviator sunglasses added to his rakish look. He grinned from ear to ear, revving the engine, playing with the throaty sound.

“Come on, Flynn, the morning’s wasting.”

“What the fuck is that?”

“Transport. Get your gear and get in before I wake the neighborhood,” Jack sniped at Gareth’s question. “This isn’t a sound you can ignore for long.”

Gareth had to agree. The deep bass notes of the car’s engine rippled down the street and back again. He quickly ducked inside and reached for wallet, phone, and keys before he grabbed a jacket from the rack and sunglasses and a ball cap from a drawer. Moments later he stood beside the car’s passenger door and frowned at the lack of a visible door handle. Surely Jack wasn’t expecting him to vault over the door?

Jack’s laugh, carefree and enticing, bubbled up over the engine’s rumble, and without Gareth being able to see what he did, the passenger door popped open, ready for Gareth to climb in.

The seat was a surprisingly long way down. And once he sat, all he could see were acres of creamy hide and gleaming walnut trim, with a tiny slice of glittering green bonnet stretching out in front of him.

“Where did you get this monster?” he asked as he pulled the seat belt across his chest and Jack peeled away from the curb with a deep V-8 growl that was sure to rattle windowpanes along the quiet cul-de-sac.

“It’s mine. Well, half of it is.”

You don’t greet your new boss dressed like an underage rent boy. But when Jack Horwood—ace hacker and ex-MI6 operative—opens the door to Gareth Flynn, he's too busy to worry over details like that. And anyway, his potential new boss is his former Commanding Officer – the same guy Jack has had a crush on since he was seventeen. So he should understand, right?

When he applied for the job in Nancarrow Mining's corporate security division, Jack had hoped for peaceful days repelling cyber attacks. Maybe a bit of corporate espionage on the side. His plans didn't include rescuing abused children, hunting pimps, or dealing with his overly protective and hot-as-hell boss, Gareth Flynn. Walking away is not an option. Jack never takes the easy way out. More than that, meeting Gareth raises old ghosts that Jack needs to put to rest. Rescuing kids. Taking risks. Saving the day. Jack can do all that – but deciding what to do about his attraction to Gareth isn’t the sort of cloak-and-dagger game Jack plays well. Yet Gareth, strong and smart and always on hand when needed, might be Jack’s salvation.

Least of all Gareth and the tentative relationship they’ve started to rebuild.
But Gareth, for whom Christmas is all about new beginnings, won’t let Jack take the easy way out. He makes him face his ghosts instead. Even when said ghosts invade their bedroom. When Daniel’s parents are found, Jack is determined to settle the matter without involving Daniel at all. But fate decrees otherwise, and it’s Gareth who helps him finally understand that the strongest bonds are those forged together. Once he gets that, Jack can step up and make a decision designed to lay his ghosts to rest—for good.

REVIEW
** I received an ARC copy in exchange of an honest review **

Sparked is a light Science-Fiction Young Adult story written by Sheena Snow; since I read the synopsis it let me wanting to read the book so bad, but I have to confess, it kind of disappointed me, at first I wasn't too attracted for this book, because it was a slow beginning, but then it started to get more interesting and then I couldn’t stop reading! I tell you, this is the kind of book I like. However, the author’s writing wasn’t too good, I mean, it was good because it was simple, and for me —not being English native— it was a good plus to my read, but there were moments where it could be better.

Anyway, this book tells us about an eighteen years old girl whose life is going to change. She lives in a time where robots are normal —not our kind of robots but ones more sophisticates and advanced. And here comes the main plot. Vienna hates —actually doesn't trust— robots, she thinks they're not what the government tells the world. That maybe someday they could rule the human race. So while she tries to have a normal life surrounded by them, and trying to discover the secret that government is keeping —she starts to investigate and search more about their creation, how all started. But when you try to uncover something like that —something related to persons that are more powerful than you, it doesn’t end well. When she meets Alec, she’s a little catch unawares by his warning —someone’s trying to hurt her. So here all starts…

While the story goes on —the romance starts to bloom, but when you’ve been against them since the beginning, fall in love with one of them is not easy to accept, and when it is strong, sexy, and has beautiful green eyes, that’s even more difficult.

Overall, Sparked is a great read, even when there were moments I didn’t like, most of the time I really enjoyed it. The main plot is really interesting and innovative. Although, I wanted to know more things —or that sometimes they were better explained. BUT I’m looking forward for the second book, to find out what happens with Vienna and Alec, because the end of this one, omg! Just let you wanting more.

Welcome to my tour stop for
HOLDING COURT by K.C. Held

Title: Holding Court
Author: K.C. Held
Release Date: March. 1, 2016
Genre: YA Mystery

Sixteen-year-old Jules Verity knows exactly what's in store at her new job at castle-turned-dinner-theater Tudor Times. Some extra cash, wearing a fancy-pants dress, and plenty of time to secretly drool over the ever-so-tasty--and completely unavailable--Grayson Chandler. Except that it's not quite what she imagined.

For one, the costume Jules has to wear is awful. Then there's the dead body she finds that just kind of...well, disappears. Oh, and there's the small issue of Jules and her episodes of what her best friend calls "Psychic Tourette's Syndrome"--spontaneous and uncontrollable outbursts of seemingly absurd prophecies.

The only bright side? This whole dead body thing seems to have gotten Grayson's attention. Except that the more Jules investigates, the more she discovers that Grayson's interest might not be as courtly as she thought. In fact, it's starting to look suspicious...

REVIEW
** I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review **

Another first to my list, Holding Court is a Young Adult Mystery book written by K.C. Held, it’s been my first of this kind in this year —I think; and OMG let me tell you —it’s such a good book! By the way, I like the cover, it’s just perfect for this story. Also, other thing that made me wanted to read it was the synopsis, it completely drew me.

Anyway, this time we plunge into a sixteen years old girl’s life, who has a hilarious-funny special “gift”; but it’s not just her —for example, her mother can know a lot of about something just by touching it. Jules’ best friend —Cami, is another great character—along with her grandmother; both of them had their moments, and made of Jules’ gift's more enjoyable and understandable. Even when at first, those random, nonsense, spontaneous and uncontrollable outbursts were —odds, to say the least— I found myself getting along them, because somehow they did are prophecies.

"Jules? Jules, are you okay? Please say something."
"You look really good in tights, "I say.

Grayson —the boy for whom Jules has had a crush on for years— he’s sexy, good abs, and look good in tights. Also, he’s the boyfriend of the only other girl who’s never treated her like a dumb, so yeah, I understand why there were moments where she felt a little bad due to had a crush on her boyfriend.

“Grayson laughs, and I don't want this moment to end. He looks so happy and being with him feels so... inconceivable.”

Okay, it’s a mystery book, so of course, there are mysteries and secrets —but, OMG! There’s this one big secret that was most incredible and surprising to know than the main one —however, I’m not telling it. That secret amazed me most than know who was the killer —and it was kind of disappointed, because I was like so that's the killer, eh? I didn't have idea.

"An opening appears in the wall behind me and I give a yelp of surprise and panic when I realize I've triggered some sort of secret entranceway"

The dead body thing was what started all —and also it was the main plot—, the plot in this book was really good and was well organized —I mean, it can attract you and you won’t know the true until the end, you can suspect about, but the true true is well hidden from us.

In conclusion, this was a book I read de pe’ a pa’, one that made me laugh, smile, and of course I had a good moment reading, so I highly recommended it, not just if you like the Young Adult. Also. I want a second part, but I don't see where it can come from, so my imagination is all what I have now.

REVIEW
** I received an ARC copy in exchange to an honest review **
As you may know —or not—, lately, I’ve read a lot of new authors, and Alyxandra Harvey was not the exception; LOVE ME, LOVE ME NOT is my first read for an Alyxandra’s book —she has others, of course— and I wanted to read this book since the day I saw the cover, then I read the synopsis and I just wanted to read it more; I made the right choice, because I don’t think I’ve read something like this before —I read fantasy, but this book is something else. Fantasy is not my common genre, so I had to stop a few times to search some words or something, due to there was new vocabulary —English is not my first language, so, yep, it wasn’t a non-stop read.

Anyway, LMLMN is a book about swans —no any swans, girls who can turn into swans —omg, first time I’ve read about girls changing into swans! However, for them to become swans they have to… FALL IN LOVE —for the first time, or true love, not something forced.

“Anastasia Vila’s family can turn into swans, but just once she’d like them to turn into responsible adults.”

Ana’s family has a mystic history, BUT, she’s not like the other women in her family —she wants to be successful and have good studies, of course she wants fall in love and have her wings— but there’s the problem, between her strict, traditionalist family and her studies, she doesn’t have enough time to go out in a date.

Pierce is Ana’s best friend, and who keeps her sane. He’s… sweet, lovely, adorable, a good big brother, and so on! The moments when I had the chance to read in his POV was fantastic —I wanted more. For quite some time, Pierce has realized that his feelings for Ana are not just friendlies, but she doesn’t feel the same —what a shame.

“No one remembers how it started in the first place—but foxes and swans just don’t get along.”

Ana’s swan family has always had an enemy —foxes, or Renard clan. They’ve been in an eternal war —at first, I thought Pierce was one of the Renard family, but not, for a little moment that kind of disappointed me, but I got over it easily. In general, there were many characters, all them different from each other, sometimes it made a little more enjoyable my reading —by the way, she has a big family!

All in all, I liked, and enjoyed reading it, a really good book from cover to cover —even when I had to stop a few times. Also, I think it’s an only one book —or at least for Pierce and Ana’s story. Anyway, I want more of this crazy family, maybe about one of Ana’s cousins —or a book for someone in the Renard’s family, actually, it would be great, because we would know more of their story in all this foxes vs swans’ endless war.

A book with a lot of magic, for those who love fantasy, it a good opportunity to read something new —and there are a few aspects that remind of Romeo and Juliet, so, for those who like romance, and not just the normal best friend love thing —give it a chance!

Claudia

Nicole

#5

I like it.

Breaking Him de R.K. Lilley

¡Me encantó!

Lloré a mares.

Worth It de Linda Kage
