Title: Play Your Heart Out
Author: Crystal Kaswell
Series: Sinful Serenade #4
Publication Date:  May 24th 2016
Genres: New Adult, Romance

He parties like a rockstar.
She's there to make sure no one finds out...

Jess James has her eye on the prize. She is finding the money to pay for law school. Period. She is starting a new life on her own. Period. And she's absolutely staying in Los Angeles, three thousand miles away from the people who expect her to lie for them. It doesn't matter how lonely she gets on her own, how exhausted she is from working overtime as a cocktail waitress, or how deep the knife wound in her back cuts. She is going to be a lawyer, whatever it takes.

Only she doesn't have what it takes. She can barely afford to pay her rent.

Sinful Serenade bassist Pete Steele has enough to pay Jess's rent and buy her a small island in the Caribbean. The famous, talented rock star has everything... except the one thing his manager wants. Pete rose to fame as a devoted boyfriend. Doesn't matter that his ex slept with his best friend, he needs to stop screwing his way through Los Angeles to keep his reputation clean. Pete works hard, and parties harder... and the sweet, blond waitress is exactly the girl he needs on his arm if he wants to keep the record company happy.

Their arrangement is simple: he pays her tuition, she plays his girlfriend. They'll lie to the world, but not to each other. Especially not when they're alone, in his bed, him figuring out exactly which buttons to push to get her moaning his name.

Jess is good at keeping up appearances. She can play the enigmatic rock star's girlfriend. But Pete shouldn't play games with a girl who's been broken before...

** I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review **

I have read many many books about rockstars or just about boys/men being in a band —not necessarily worldwide-known— most of the time they're always the same... even if they have very different plots or characters themselves, but you know, despite everything I won't stop reading them.

This is my first book written by Crystal, it was a fantastic reading, and I don't think I made a mistake by not reading the three first book before Play Your Heart Out I'll reading those anytime soon— but at the end I don't know if I would feel or think the same about Pete due to I didn't know exactly what had happened to him, there was a part where I was kind of angry at him for hurt —not in a bad way, but hurt— Jess's feelings, and I was really trying to understand him, and I got it when he finally opened his heart to Jess —and of course, me.

Crystal takes a girl who knows what she wants to do and to be plus a boy who's hurt and doesn't want people to enter. I would have liked the synopsis to be more intriguing —don't get me wrong, it captivated me and I was surely reading the book after reading itbut sometimes I like to get more surprises while I reading a book, in this case, I got a lot of them, but deep-down I'd have loved more.

Jess and Pete met in a... uncommon way, that's for sure; knowing what they want and what they have to promise each other —at least one of them really knows thatthey come to an agreement, one that was supposed to work, because not feelings where allowed; but come on! Feelings are not something you can control, and the longer they spent together the more one of them fell —and really hard. But definitely what I liked most was the way they challenged each other to their furthest everything Pete being who he was was always testing Jess's limits, and she was trying to get him to accept it.

As I said I'll reading the other books to know more about the other members of this famous band that I would have liked to know before. Overall, it was incredible, the plot made me be on the edge of my seat, that was a good thing; plus, Crystal's writing, how she gave turns —that I didn't expect— to the whole story, what can I say? It was an amazing base.

Play Your Heart Out is a sexy, charmer-heartbreaker book —with a rock start who can't fight against his feelings anymore and a girl who's not disposed to stay where her feelings are not beloved. I highly recommend it to everyone who likes New Adult books or books where there are bands involved —or sexy rockstars, for the matter.
Book: +4.5 RockStar Romance stars
Why I can't give it five amazing stars? That's something I'll always wonder.
